The school opened its doors to pupils on 26 May 1996 as Mewa Academy. Three children were admitted on that day as baby class pupils. The three pioneers learned for free throughout that academic year. By December 1996 the notion that the new school was providing quality education had spread widely. As a result the population of the Academy grew to 60 pupils in January 1997. The 60 pupils were all enrolled for early childhood or Pre-primary education.
